Deep Blue Sea Collection

The "Deep Blue Sea" collection is inspired by the magical colours of the Mediterranean Sea that link Morocco to Spain. Morocco has long been famous for its Zellige Mosaic art, which is a terra cotta tile work, covered with enamel in the form of chips set into plaster. It is one of the main characteristics of the Moroccan architecture.

MARK / GIUSTI’s signature fabric prints, used for all interior lining, continues to be derived from mosaics. Specifically for the new “DEEP BLUE SEA” collection, the interior lining patterns are inspired from the original mosaic decorations found in the Attarine Medersa (Fez, Morrocco) built in XIIII century A.D. Sultan Abou Said Uthman built the Attarine Medersa, deep in the heart of the medina of Fez, in the early 1320s.

The “DEEP BLUE SEA” collection includes a mix of casual and classical pieces such as weekend bags, business bags and small accessories. MARK / GIUSTI has even introduced a “scarves” category in this collection. The colours are rich and vibrant – dominated by various shades of blue, navy and turquoise. These beautiful blue colours provide a wave of luxury throughout the collection and exhibit the beautiful craftsmanship by MARK / GIUSTI.

The primary leather for this collection is premium grained Saffiano calf leather. Mark Farhat has also introduced several other new materials that reflect the sea and the feeling of summer, such as stingray, eel and a sandy-coloured linen/viscose fabric that adds lightness and modernity to the pieces.

One of the biggest changes is that for the first time the materials for the linings of the bags have changed. The MARK / GIUSTI brand is using a new organic hemp/ramie mix in this collection, which further emphasizes his dedication to ethics and sustainability.

The "Deep Blue Sea" Collection by MARK / GIUSTI will be available for collection in Spring/ Summer 2014.
