HOW IS OUR SIGNATURE MOSAIC LEATHER MADE
Once the leather has been aniline dyed all the way through, it has a pigmented (leather paint) coating applied to the surface of the leather. It is then left to cure.
After the pigment has cured, the leather is put inside an embossing/debossing machine heated to around 75 degrees Celsius. The leather is then pressed with our unique mosaic design pattern to give it the texture and its geometric mosaic embossed/debossed design. The leather is usually pressed for between 10-15 seconds.
Secondary colouring processes occur after the embossing has been done to give it its two-tone effect. This is done by applying the darker tone only the embossed areas (the peak of the grain). This technique subtly elevates the embossed areas and depicts the sharpness of our signature geometric mosaic pattern.
Finally, the leather is treated with a wax coating, which gives it long-lasting durability, helps prevent the leather from cracking, and keeps it safe from liquid spillage. Please note that the leather is not waterproof. The treatment protects it from light spillage and helps droplets (Depending on the liquid) to slide through without sticking onto the leather. It can still be scuffed and scratched. Sharp objects will still cut into the leather, and the colour will fade throughout use.
